My name is Michelle and I am a Brand Representative. I represent Western States (AZ, CA, CO, NV).
Tell us about ABLE values.
I'm usually the first to volunteer to help clean the beach, serve a meal . . . help those you cannot help themselves. I love the ABLE mission to invest in women - allow them to earn a fair living wage to take care of themselves and their families and end the cycle of generational poverty. It's the "give a man a fish or teach him to fish" philosophy.
What is your favorite ABLE product and why?
The jewelry and leather goods are so timeless and classic. I love to layer multiple necklaces and never take them off. They're gold filled so they never tarnish or fade. My go-to bag is the Mamuye Tote - clean, simple and so functional. I've always believed a good bag makes an outfit. I'll have it forever!
Where are ABLE products made? All over the world actually. ABLE employs and empowers women who, in many cases, have overcome extraordinary circumstances. Whether they are in Ethiopia, Mexico, Brazil, Peru or at the ABLE headquarters in Nashville, they are given a job with purpose and dignity which allows them to thrive.
Tell us something you’ve learned in your sustainable fashion journey that was a surprise to you.
I was surprised by how much waste there is in the world. For example the hides from cattle that fed families in Ethiopia were thrown away because there was no means to manufacture with them. ABLE is now creating jobs utilizing those hides, and recycled water, to produce beautiful leather goods. It's amazing!
Where is your favorite place to be and why?
With family . . . at the end of the day that matters most.
