A true artist can visualize something beautiful out of anything! We are in awe of the jewelry that can be made from recycling. You might be thinking we are crazy, but just wait until you see how these five U.S. artisans are turning waste into art you can wear! 1. Hathorway has been a top seller in our boutique from day one. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, every piece is designed by designer, Jessica Phan, who wanted to reconnect with her Vietnamese heritage by preserving a 400-year-old craftsmanship which uses ethically-sourced buffalo horns, a material—like leather—that has been...

As the parents of two teenage girls who LOVE to shop (we don’t know where that comes from, promise), and the owners of an eco-conscious/ethical practices boutique, we often have the dilemma of our girls shopping at companies we aren’t huge fans of.
We don’t expect them to love the clothes and jewelry we offer since they are not our demographic. But, we do want them to be aware of the brands they choose to support, and who makes those clothes.

I used to think I needed a ton of clothes to always have something to wear. But, what I found is that the more I had, the harder it was to get dressed and lots of the stuff in my closet I liked, but I didn’t love. I would take forever to pick something out and then I wouldn't like it once I tried it on. That is when I realized, I would rather have fewer, but nicer things that I LOVED to wear.
The trick is having versatile pieces and accessorizing! Your imagination is your friend when you can see everything you have to choose from. You can visualize how to pair items in different ways and you don’t have to try things on to see if you like them because you LOVE everything you have in your closet! So, if you ask me, here are the 7 staples I think should be in every closet.
We’ve been asked a few times how we pick or find the designers, artisans, and companies that we work with. While there’s no secret sauce, we do have some basic criteria! First, the company or designer must absolutely align with our values when it comes to sustainability - their products are ethically made (fair wages, non-sweatshop-py working conditions, etc), and we do our best to make sure the fabric and material is eco-friendly.
Another question we get is why do you promote other companies in your social media and on your website? Because we’ve done our research and know who our designers and artisans are and what they’re about, we choose to celebrate them, as loud/often as possible!
