Many of you have probably heard of fast fashion. But, slow fashion is something many people are not familiar with. Slow fashion is an awareness and an approach to fashion, which considers the processes and resources required to make clothing with a focus on sustainability. That means buying better quality garments that will last longer and that you can wear longer.
My mindset about clothing has changed significantly once I started learning more and more about the fashion industry and the impact on the environment and other people. Let’s face it, if you pay people a fair wage to pick the crops, make the fabrics, dye the fabrics, sew the garments, etc. it’s going to cost more.
If you are going to pay more for higher quality clothing, you are going to want to choose garments that you can wear many times and for many years. By not taking care of your clothing, we end up throwing it away and it ends up in a landfill.
